"these words repeating in my head..."
I’m talkin’ ‘bout blue skies blue skies… what’s the matter matter blue skies…
This mash-up keeps happening in my head.
Also, it’s difficult to play either album without feeling lots of feelings, either happy and excited or sincere and emotional.. Mostly the happy if you’re listening/occasionally singing while driving awesomely with relatively/irrelevantly cooperative traffic.
“The facts were these..”
I like hearing it in my head. I miss hearing it on the show.
“Give me the love of an orchestra!!”
I don’t know how to listen to this and not be exultant.
“A hundred miles a hundred miles a hundred miles a hundred miles.. you can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles…”
In my younger days, it took me a long time to get used to the song 500 Miles by the Proclaimers because in my even younger days the only 500 Miles song that existed to me was the old folk song, so that’s still always what comes first to my head.
“Without hope or agenda..”
Love, Actually is a really good movie.
For those that didn’t know, those airport scenes at the beginning and end of the movie were not scripted. They secretly filmed people at the airport, and asked their permission to use the footage after collecting the film. This was one bit of information I knew going into the film the first time around, and it remains one of my favorite things.
At the same time, the airport scenes remind me of the scene from another movie — I thought it was Dogma but now I’m not sure — where there’s an entirely different perspective on airport greetings/farewells/love.. I forget whether the commentary was that it’s all insincere/temporary, or whether it all deeply sincere but completely temporary.. ‘the height of humanity’ with their passionate, urgent, and sincere love and hugs and kisses and sweetness.. before parting and returning to less than sincere interactions, behavior, existence.
