Boo iTunes, yay The Weepies

slated in consumed at 10:21 pm

New Weepies album Hideaway arrived! Looking forward to listening to it.

It’s weird getting CDs (even cool autographed album covers), because I’m just going to burn it to my computer so that I can actually listen to it and access it anytime/put it on my mp3 player, etc, and then I’m going to very likely lose/put the CD away somewhere and rarely refer to it ever again.

iTunes doesn’t work for me because

  1. they’ve not yet done away with their retarded proprietary format (my friend had to reformat his computer several times (which is a headache in itself) and ultimately he could no longer play his own music because the limit of licenses had been reached. He couldn’t play his own music! On his own computer! That he paid for! On his own! I don’t want that deal for free. Ridiculous.)
  2. iTunes is still currently not allowed on my computer, because
    1. resource hog on PC,
    2. runs additional processes in the background without my permission, such as “ipodservicehelper” or some nonsense.. and it is nonesense because I do not, never have, have no plans to connect an iPod to my computer.

On the other hand, Amazon’s music downloads program does nothing of the sort. Get Hideaway there.

*update: This really is an adorable (puppy huggable cute) album.
btw, Joshua Radin, Mandy Moore, Schuyler Fisk are in the credits. So is “Theo, who was closely involved with every aspect of this recording, from start to finish.”
