Credit card consolidation

slated in mainstream at 6:50 pm

Learned something very useful yesterday about credit cards.

You can combine multiple cards/accounts (from the same provider) into one.
And you can change one type of card to another (that the provider offers)

Well, I know for sure you can do it with Citi cards, because that’s what my experience proved yesterday. I would think that other companies like Chase, Bank of America, etc. could also do the same, though.

e.g. If you have two Citi cards: Platinum Dividend and Diamond Preferred, you can change the Platinum Dividend to a Citi Forward card.

e.g. If you have two of the same type (Visa/MC/AmerExpress) by the same company, you can combine the accounts (Visa and Visa and Mastercard with Mastercard), which will combine your credit limit, etc.

Consolidating means you can pick the features of newer cards while keeping your good, long credit history with old cards.

This was very good news/progress for me.
