The Namesake
slated in reading at 11:22 pm
I just finished reading The Namesake, by Jhumpa Lahiri.
It is a truly beautiful book. I wasn’t happy with a lot of it, story-wise (true to life, too), but that subtracts nothing from the flawless writing, the perfectly conveyed settings and emotions.. the beauty and rawness of the cultures described.. the simple and complex truths of individuals and families and heritage.
Read it. Don’t skim it. Read it and imagine and understand.
