Aaaargh. I’m looking at renewing my passport and I find myself physically uncomfortable and resistant to the idea of putting my old/current passport in the mail — even if they give it back.

I looked at the options for appearing in person, but it seems to make most sense to send it in the mail. Oy. It’s my passport! ::uneasy:: I’ll do it, I know it’ll be fine.. grrrrrr I really don’t like this. !

Not having my passport in hand/easily accessible at home means that, should the case come up unexpectedly, I actually cannot hop a plane to travel outside this country. Even the anticipation of that remote possibility is very discomforting.

Okay. So if a serious need came up, I do have backup. But what if I didn’t have backup??
