Car sick
Bluey the car died (got terribly terribly sick) today on way home from work.
“Anyone can be passionate, but it takes real lovers to be silly.”
I started listening to the wolves and the timber, wolves and the timber at night…
I wake in the field with the cold and the lonesome—the moon’s the only face I see
So long, so high….
...Excuse me, are you lost? Perhaps you would care to visit the site map
Bluey the car died (got terribly terribly sick) today on way home from work.
I’m feeling a bit like i’ve been neglecting my computer and internet projects this past weekend and recently… not for lack of wanting to turn attention to them.. and not for not being around my computer completing assorted errands that are after all nec`essary but don’t leave me with much to show or feel accomplished for when i’m done..
I’m out to Florida for the weekend to visit my Grandmother and Florida family.. Cookies are coming with, computer of course is not. Still have to pack tonight: notebook (the oldschool non-electronic kind) or two, some clean clothes if I can find them. Back in time for a dentist appointment on Monday. Yay.
thunder is tapering off a bit, i think. i believe that under better weather conditions, there would still be a reasonable amount of daylight outside, but at the moment it’s looking like evening’s making a hasty entrance.
found out today that one of my cousins has a website. and another one just got his up today. i like that. it feels like they’re a little bit less far away now…
i’m planning on making a whole lot of cookies sometime in the next week. gotta take them with me for peoples at place. possibly/plausibly/certainly i shall consume some of them myself.
very glad to talk with Alberto today. no matter the content, it’s always most worthwhile.
i got a haircut yesterday.. mostly trim, but a bit more layering… but since i never do anything with my hair anyway, it’s prolly hard to tell.
Why is tomorrow sunday? another saturday would have been far more convenient.
i miss being in Asia.
do i miss the food and the prices, or the living on my own in a place with few ties?
i’m still waiting for certain email, and i owe someone a call back.
i’m going to get myself some icecream now.
Southpark Ali.
it is hot in my house bedroom
..because of weather stuff.
i’m probably going to be reiterating this point (complaining about the heat thing) many much more times through course of coming and current and waning summer.
nice dinner with Waws tonight…
much dehydrated; drank quite little water through day and don’t want to now, tho i’m quite thirsty, because i’m going to sleep sooner than later and will not want the dsturbtion of having to get up to the bthrm.
almost bought a new journal.. (black leather or brown leather?), but decided it was a bit too preemptive, since i’ve not reasonably completed the current one yet, though it is quite nearly done… i’ve written so sparsely this past year… increasingly i’m more a typer than writer.. increasingly i’m less a writer/typer… the thinking’s still there, at least,... but the placing on paper or digitalizing is not so much these days.
i am soooo tired today. well maybe not soooo, but at least sooo… actually more like two and a half ‘o’s…
anyway, i’m much low on sleep this past week (however not-unusual that is)..
so sleeping now, and everything else later….
and so much else to do…
i got a bit lost driving today… i think i was caught up in the beautiful greenery/scenery all around..
i feel an ode to the recently impressively beautiful springtime natural displays are in order. but s+o*2.5 tired means that ramble will have to wait with everything else.
lilacs are rather cool. so is cereal with a heavy dose of fresh strawberries in it.
and it’s nice to have cereal back in my life (particularly with the fresh fruit), since milk is somewhat of a rarity for me.. it’s just the way we were brought up.. milk is bad. and it is true..
my mother has spent some time trying to locate a place where we can get fresh, non-processed milk.. something about buying shares in a cow. i think it’s an excellent idea, and i’m looking forward to that finding.. i am hoping that the unprocessed cow’s milk will taste reasonably like store-bought milk, though.. unlike fresh soya bean milk, which tastes nothing like any soyabean milk from a store.
i like that it’s nearly 7:30pm right now and the sun is still pretty firmly out. I mean, it’s clearly fading — that midas glow is there.. but it’s still a nice time of day for a walk, or to play a quick final game of tennis or something.
but my tummy’s very full of curry and cereal right now.. and i’m currently lacking the preferred company for tennis or walking.
now going to make an attempt at creating/tackling playlist pages, and then showertime.
after running Opera 7.6 for the past many months (even though apparently the latest release is stil 7.54u2… *shrug*) i went ahead and downloaded the new Opera Beta … seems awesome. the one thing Opera can’t touch Firefox on, though, is the Web Developer Extension. aside from that, Opera runs faster and lighter in just about every way. (note: downloading the new beta version does not replace your current installation of Opera.)
also updated Thunderbird from 1.0 to 1.0.2. isn’t that exciting.
a very very rainy day.. started sometime early this morning… the sound you hear outside your window that surely the flowers are being beat down and everything crushed beneath the thundering raindrops…. but they aren’t crushed and they don’t drown; it’s April 2nd — April showers bring May flowers (but what do Mayflowers bring? Pilgrims!) and already the daffodils are out and the early little purple irises promised the larger ones on their way.. and the tall, yellow, feathery-type flower bushes who’s name i have currently forgotten are peeking through bit by bit. so there’s Spring.
another side thought of the moment… regarding a certain lavender box column: css and background graphics are highly uncool. they’re not cooperating for me at moment, and i’ve not yet wrapped my head around a creative solution. but i want it solved!
*update: 3:30pm… solved! annoying, but yay! …now there had better be a way to fix it in IE too.
furthermore on firefox, btw..
i found a note from a MatthewHSE in webmasterworld on tweaking firefox to be faster:
To get started, type “about:config” in your firefox address bar. The settings you’re looking for are:1.) network.http.pipelining
2.) network.http.pipelining.firstrequest
3.) network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
4.) network.http.proxy.pipelining
5.) nglayout.ititialpaint.delaySet #1, #2, and #4 to “true”. Set #3 to a high number, like 32. Set #5 to 0.
Enabling the pipelining features allows the browser to make multiple requests to the server at the same time. The “maxrequests” is the maximum number of requests it will send at once. I’ve heard that 8 is the most it will send at once, but setting it higher won’t hurt, just in case. The initialpaint.delay is the length of time (in milliseconds) after the server response before the browser begins to paint the page.

Furthermore on Opera…
Web Developer Toolbar & Menu for Opera... huh. :)
(i don’t think it had dynamic css editing.. but it’s still better than nothing before.)
and furthermore..
here’s the thing about Opera 8 (so far)… everthing seems pretty nice and reasonably polished.. i’m still not thoroughly used to the new sidepanels format they switched to at some point in the last 3 versions… but the big complaint i have about new Opera 8 (and this is a very big complaint, actually, though it seems such a small thing), is that they seem to have done away with that feature that allowed you to click a tab you are already on, which drops you right to the tab you had most recently used immediately before. i’m not sure how else to describe it.. but it’s a terribly useful feature for hopping back and forth between tabs, and it’s one thing i most missed when i using firefox. why oh why would they have subtracted this functionality?
*another upgrade: installed bblean 113b6 (have been on 112u1). not much change (which is fine) but i do already see that the ‘balloon tips’ for system tray seems to have been added as an integrated feature (matching the skin, too), so the plugin i’d recently found for that is no longer necessary (had been inconsistent anyway).
